I love this post! I know that the moon affects everything. When I was older and trying to conceive babies I was very aware of the moon cycles. I had planned on really getting a vegetable garden going a couple years back as my youngest daughter was walking but I got a surprise with another baby girl! So far I have raised babies but no vegetables!
But there is a time for everything! Thanks for this "lunar" information!

I'd never heard of planting by the moon, but something about its phases is so romantic. Wish I could plant that early--for me it's not until June 1.

Excellent post! Another moon planter! I learned of this from my famrwife MIL and famrboy DH. It does work. I have used Llewellans Moon Sign Guide for years...it's a little new agey but has all the tables and some really great planting info and organic methods ect. I will be out this weekend planting. I was glad I had my surgery last week in the dark of the waning moon and it was textbook according to the surgeon..had first daughter c section on a full Hunter moon and spent several days in ICU with internal bleeding. I am a firm believer in the moon's influences. Enjoy your gardening! :)

I too have been waiting with batedseed packs! At last we have crossed into that wet, fertile Taurus New Moon (with a most appropriate storm to boot). Happy Gardening! :)

Simply Jenn, that was my thinking way back when -- if the moon affects the tides, what else does it affect. Having been an EMT, I can verify that people definitely bleed more on the full moon than at any other time of the month, not to mention the loonies that come out. :)

Teetotaled, when I lived in NYC, I relied on pots in the window 23 stories up. I think I'd shrivel up if I couldn't stick my hands in some dirt. :)

Threecollie and Subartic Mama, let me know how it goes!

We'll have to try it. We don't get to plant outside until June 1 up here. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your garden.

Far from scoffing, I am excited about this. The boss has been pushing me to get transplants out, but I have been reluctant. It just didn't seem to be quite time yet. I admit that a couple of lingering frosts have made me gunshy so to speak, but I am going to look up the date you suggested and see what happens. Thanks

That's very interesting. I like that you tested the method and still saw results. It does make sense considering tides rely solely on the moon.
