I often think about animals, wild or not, who are in such pain and have no one to help them. I'm glad Kiera has you.

Holly, I just had a friend go through the same thing with one of her elderly dogs. She (the dog) is doing great. The owner -- not as well. Hope your dog sails through the next patch easily.

Cindy, I'm sure that kitty appreciated having your loving energy surround it, as it passed. Yes, it does seem that animals have a different way of coping with pain...

I am glad she is ok and you caught the damage early. I have an elderly rescue here that had 13 teeth removed a few years ago and will probably have another 6 done this summer. Poor baby did not have good dental care and it is showing up now. And he too never shows any discomfort.

Good news, and such a relief for you Karen! Blessings on your family, both two-legged and four-legged. It's so true about animals and the way they handle pain, they rarely exhibit any sign that they're suffering, they usually wait and only show signs of dying! I held a stray cat that had been hit by a car recently and obviously had a broken back. I just couldn't leave it in the street, so as gently as I could I pick-ed this kitty up and cradled it in my arms. I knew it was passing rather quickly from it's injury, but this sweet kitty never struggled or acted like it was in pain, it just passed away calmly. The human emotions and fear we as humans associate with pain is not the same in the animal world. I've always felt animals handle pain with such grace, acceptance and without struggle.....thereby, without the panic and intensity we would expect. I think animals know something we don't.....
