I have the opposite problem...I'm with our ACD duo almost constantly, have been since we brought them home at 6 and 8 weeks. I wake up to two little faces staring at me over the edge of the bed and I go to sleep with the sound of them circling in their beds in our bedroom. Of course, I do leave them to run around town - errands and play with friends - and when I get home they act like they haven't seen me in days. Every couple of weeks, just for a change, I drop the pup at dog daycare and leave the old guy at home for a little peace and quiet. They seem to enjoy the few hours of independence and so do I...but really we're all happiest when we're together. So, yeah, I can understand how hard it must be for you and them.

Dori, thanks. They are awfully sweet. Hopefully, within a month or so, I'll be able to get a couple of days working back from my home office.

Holly, sounds like a fun-filled weekend ahead!

Mickey, I have a friend who takes her two little girls to daycare across the street from her during the week. They love going, have lots to do, and think of the husband and wife who run it as part of the family. For all of them, it's a great thing. Sounds like you have a good situation too. For me, it was a great thing to be able to be home with my daughter. I think the main thing is to be at peace with whatever choice we moms have to make.

As a mom to boys, dog & cat, when we leave we remind ourselves it is good for our kids. We raise them to be independent, and want them to know there are other adults upon whom they can rely.

it will, I have a long weekend coming up and some of my plans are to take the dogs (in pairs) to the gamelands. That's like doggie playground and I am going to take them even if it's raining or snowing. They will love it and I will enjoy watching them have such a good time.

I definitely understand how it would be hard to leave those sweet faces. Hope you can have more time to work at home soon.

Meredith, oh, yes, absolutely forget it around here trying to get out for a walk without these guys! They mutiny by barking non-stop the whole time I'm gone -- My neighbors can only be asked to take so much.

Elaine & Cindy, yes the grins and wags and unbridled enthusiastic greeting upon return counts as one of the best parts of my day.

Jo, staying home with Cait until she went to school was a choice I made and I feel so lucky that I was able to do so. Of course, being able to work from home helps! I know that's not a choice all moms can make or want to make. But, for me, it was the right choice.

Holly, I feel your pain. I hope something shifts for you soon, so you can spend more time with your pups.

Ah, the sadness in goodbye....and the JOY in "hello"! Three faces greet me when I return home, three wagging tails and three big sloppy grins.....I love when they "grin".

But they are happy to see you when you get home, right? I try to be restrained when I leave and return so I don't reinforce my dogs' excitement, but there is no question that they have missed me.
