Points of View

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

If you can love unconditionally (thanks Cindy for this key addition),

…Then You Are Probably The Family Dog!

.

Sorry guys, I know you’ve probably seen this, but I couldn’t resist sharing. Truth is truth, after all. :)

Okay, to make this post more useful to at least some of you — because you know I’m all about being useful — check out these beautiful points of view for traffic control. 1. Cindy, of course! How could “if you love unconditionally…” get left out. Gross oversight by the original author. But I shall rectify that immediately! Glad you like the gates. I love how airy they leave the room feeling.

Therese, I think that’s a great idea to try to fashion something like these on your own. It shouldn’t be hard to make something more appealing than baby gates. :)

  2. Those gates are way cool! I got a new bay window put in a couple years ago and have had a folding baby gate up ever since. It’s not all that attractive but it’s functional. I don’t know that I’ll buy one of Donna’s gates but I may do something similar ;) Thanks for the idea!

  3. And, if I may add one more….”if you can love unconditionally”….you are probably a dog. My dogs and cats teach me the art of Zen everyday. Just be, just breathe, just love….embrace your dogness, revel in your catness….and you might get your belly scratched to boot!

Now, as for the gates!!! How did you know I was searching for just the right gate to keep the dogs out of the dining room? We’ve damaged more then one doorway with those ugly, albeit functional, baby gates. I threw out the last one yesterday vowing to never again compromise the beauty of my doorways. Time for something different…..big thanks for the link!
