Recently, I overheard a conversation at a coffee shop that stayed with me. Two people were talking about how hard life can be and the ongoing struggle to be their best selves despite setbacks. One of them, in particular, seemed to carry a quiet weight of regret.
As they got up to leave, the one friend clapped the other on the back and said, “Give it hell, fellow flawed human.” It was such a simple yet powerful gesture of support. And a reminder that our so-called weaknesses are simply part of being human. We are all works in progress.
So remember to be kind to yourself. And if you can, be that friend who encourages others to keep going—to “give it hell” even when life gets tough. If you don’t yet have someone like that in your life, seek out the kind of friend who will cheer you on with those sentiments.
Because we all need a little moral support on this bumpy road called life.
