Longtime readers of this blog know that there has been a fair amount of animal loss over the last few years. Wink is our last man standing. And when it’s his time to join his animal family on the other side, I’m not sure I will be ready to go right back to adding more animals.
It’s been decades and decades since I’ve lived without animals. While the joy they’ve provided me is immeasurable, I think I want to have a few years where I can feel free to travel without leaving my fur family behind or having to worry about them. We’ll see…
In the meantime, I’ve been noticing that our wild kingdom family has been significantly expanding. While they don’t bring me quite the same joy as my dogs have, I am always so happy to see them. And I find I even worry when I don’t see them for a while. Wondering if a hunter, car, or disease has taken them out.
Here are a few of the latest to the party.
Blue Heron
Deer resting on other side of the pond
Family of geese
Muskrat
Wild turkey
Family of ducks
We have a couple of families of deer. Here’s another one.
Great blue heron
Too many bird species to count.
Chipmunks and squirrels galore
Another turkey family
Scary looking but harmless wolf spider
And lots of amphibians and snakes. I guess that goes without saying since this is a pond after all.
