I love WordPress but…

I hate how hard it is to upgrade! Grrr…. After two miserably failed attempts which have messed up my RSS feeds among causing other problems (if you read through an RSS feed, you may need to resubscribe to automatically get the current posts), I’m giving up! For now anyway.

Yes, for a few hours, I’d lost the whole kit and kaboodle into cyberspace! I’m happy to have recovered my old version for your viewing pleasure.

  1. We tried WordPress for our new site – and after three solids days of total frustration, we gave up and went back to blogger. Sometimes, change is not good! Glad you are back up and running smoothly.

  2. YAY!! With Jen’s help, I figured out how to upload videos. (Actually, Jen, I wound up having to install a plugin, but I never would have found it without your tip.)

    Thanks Mountain Dweller.

  3. Caffienated Cowgirl, there’s no burning reason why I have to. The new WP version is easier to switch out themes and widgets. And there are some plugins that would make my life a lot easier if I could use them, except they’re incompatible with my WP version. Mostly, I’d like to be able to occasionally share videos on my blog, but this version won’t upload them. The best I can do is provide a link.

Thanks Pappy’s Fella for letting me know it’s working for you.

  4. Like fuzzy, my RSS feed through Google Reader continued to work despite your upgrading misadventures. Hope that makes it all worthwhile.

Poor you! Don’t let it get the best of you. Just curious though, what’s the reason behind the upgrade?

  6. My version is so old that I can’t upload videos. And I’ve done so much customization that for all intents and purposes I have to delete this blog, install a new one and then re-add the backed-up content. Maybe someday when I have a million hours to waste… :)

  7. Your feed must be working, since this is how I found this post!

I have to upgrade to 2.3 but my theme isn’t compliant.. I’ve not upgraded in forever and three days.
