Angels Come in Many Forms

Early this morning, around 2 a.m., I was awoken by incessant barking coming from downstairs. Not an altogether unheard of occurrence at our house, with so many wild animals engendering great interest as they traipse through our ten-acre kingdom.

Boy, was I never so happy to be roused from a sound sleep! I got up to check on where the missing Graidy was. As soon as I hit the upstairs hallway, I was bowled over by propane fumes. I got a towel to cover my nose and went downstairs to find Graidy standing there barking at the stove. One of the burners without a pilot light was turned on. It must have been on for several hours.

After opening all the windows and doors, and checking everyone’s breathing, I was very happy to still be alive with my family safe and quietly sleeping. Chalk one up for the Graidster!

  1. Thanks everyone. It certainly was one of those moments that could have ended very badly; it really makes one take stock!

Cindy, yes, I do believe we’re surrounded by quite a circle of protection. And, yes, I think Graidy’s action most definitely qualifies him for hero status!

  2. Hi Karen
Just back from vacation in the Smokey Mountains and playing catch-up here. It comes as no surprise to read of your Graidy showing his heroic side. Goes to show how dogs are one of the greatest gifts to humankind. Treat them with the love, care and respect they deserve and they’ll serve you all their days with joy….and then some! What a boy….and what a circle of protection that undoubtedly surrounds your home and family!
