Deer tick nymph stage

Deer tick nymph stage

Excuse my dirty hand. Just came in from weeding in the garden when I noticed the dark speck on my nail.

When I went to flick it off, it didn’t budge.

Then I tried to pick it off and realized…

that it was a lovely deer tick in the nymph stage— a stage with about 20% likelihood for it to be a carrier of Lyme Disease.

Luckily I spotted it before it had a chance to attach. If one does latch onto you and you can detach it within 24 hours, you’re not likely to become infected.

So while you’re checking your dogs, don’t forget to give yourself the once-over too anytime you come in from outside.
